Welcome! I'm Matthew Mao, a Biospecimen Associate II at Guardant Health. I earned my degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California Santa Barbara with a minor in Anthropology. During my undergraduate studies, I was fortunate enough to be able to conduct research with Charles Johnson and Enoch Yeung. Our research focused on bacterial resistance to antibiotics—an experience that sparked my passion for improving patient outcomes through healthcare.
As of now, I am based in San Mateo, California. Outside of work, I like to build D&D campaigns, write, code small projects, and spend time outdoors—usually chasing sunsets and interesting skies.
